LEWISTON, Maine — Will Capalbo has joined the Bates College men's lacrosse program as an assistant coach, head coach Dan Annino announced Monday.
Capalbo arrives at Bates with coaching experience at both the NCAA Division I and Division III levels, most recently serving as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Emmanuel College in Boston during the 2025-26 academic year.

"Coach Capalbo brings an energy, enthusiasm and professional drive that will help elevate our program, as he has at each stop throughout his young career. At Emmanuel, Capalbo coordinated the Saints' defensive system and face-off personnel while leading opponent scouting, film breakdown and statistical analysis. He also assisted with recruiting strategy, prospect identification and on-campus evaluations while serving in a dual role as an admissions representative.
Before joining Emmanuel, Capalbo spent two seasons as a graduate assistant with the NCAA Division I men's lacrosse program at Jacksonville University. The Dolphins compiled a 22-10 record during his tenure, captured back-to-back ASUN co-regular season championships in 2024 and 2025 and made two ASUN Tournament appearances, including one trip to the championship game.
Capalbo contributed to multiple areas of the Jacksonville program, including player development, recruiting, opponent scouting, film breakdown and statistical analysis. He also worked with the Dolphins' face-off specialists and goalies, helping develop multiple all-conference selections and nationally recognized players.
Jacksonville led the ASUN in face-off winning percentage in each of Capalbo's two seasons on staff. The Dolphins posted a .564 face-off percentage in 2024, which ranked 16th in NCAA Division I, before recording a .543 mark in 2025. Jacksonville also produced the 2024 ASUN Defensive Player of the Year during Capalbo's tenure.
Capalbo has also accumulated extensive experience in club lacrosse. He served as head coach with 3dLacrosse New England South from 2023-25 and associate head coach with Silverbacks Lacrosse from 2023-25, working in practice planning, competition strategy, player development and the college recruiting process. He currently serves as associate director of The Freight Train Lacrosse Club in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
A former defenseman and long-stick midfielder at Albertus Magnus College, Capalbo was a three-year starter and served as team captain from 2021-23. He helped Albertus Magnus establish program-best records in both 2022 and 2023 and finished his career with 130 ground balls, the most by a defenseman in program history. He also ranked among the program's top five in career caused turnovers despite playing just three seasons.
Capalbo earned USILA Scholar All-America honors in 2023 and was selected to the NEILA All-Region Academic Team in 2022 and 2023. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management, magna cum laude, from Albertus Magnus before completing a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in management at Jacksonville.
