APPEARANCE REQUEST FORM
Interested in having the Bates Bobcat at your next event?
The Bates Bobcat is available for select campus, community, nonprofit and private appearances throughout the year. All appearances are coordinated through Bates Athletics and are subject to performer availability, event schedules and approval.
- Please submit appearance requests at least two weeks prior to your event.
- Requests received with less than two weeks' notice may be considered based on availability.
- Submission of a request does not guarantee an appearance.
- Bates Athletics events and College priorities take precedence over other appearance requests.

- Rates are per appearance and cover up to one hour.
- Appearances exceeding one hour will be subject to additional charges.
- Additional fees may apply for appearances requiring significant travel or other special accommodations. Any additional costs will be communicated prior to confirmation.
**Appearance fees directly support the Bates mascot program, including compensation for student performers and handlers, costume maintenance and cleaning, and the upkeep and replacement of mascot apparel and accessories.
Appearance Requirements
Approved appearances must provide:
- A private, secure location for the performer to change into and out of costume
- Access to drinking water
- Appropriate breaks during longer appearances
- A safe environment for the mascot performer and handler
- A designated event contact who will be available upon arrival
The mascot will always be accompanied by a Bates-approved handler. Event organizers should not ask the performer to remove any portion of the costume or reveal their identity while in public view.
Appearance Guidelines
- The Bates Bobcat represents Bates College, and all appearances must be consistent with the College and Bates Athletics.
- The Bates Bobcat may not be used in connection with political campaigns or endorsements, commercial endorsements, or activities that could reasonably reflect negatively upon Bates College.
- Clothing, props or accessories may not be added to or used with the mascot without prior approval from Bates Athletics.
- Bates Athletics reserves the right to decline or discontinue an appearance due to safety concerns, inappropriate conduct or circumstances inconsistent with these guidelines.
