Will Capalbo joined the Bates men’s lacrosse coaching staff as an assistant coach in September 2026.
Capalbo comes to Bates after spending the 2025-26 academic year as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Emmanuel College in Boston. With the Saints, he coordinated the defensive system and face-off personnel while leading opponent scouting, film breakdown and statistical analysis. He also assisted with recruiting and prospect evaluation and held a dual role as an admissions representative.
Prior to Emmanuel, Capalbo spent two seasons as a graduate assistant with the NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse program at Jacksonville University. During his time with the Dolphins, Jacksonville posted a 22-10 record, earned ASUN co-regular season championships in 2024 and 2025 and advanced to the ASUN championship game. The Dolphins ranked first in the ASUN in face-off percentage in both of his seasons, including a .564 mark in 2024 that ranked 16th nationally.
At Jacksonville, Capalbo was involved in a wide range of program operations, including player development, recruiting, opponent scouting, film and statistical analysis, equipment and team logistics. He worked with the program’s face-off specialists and goalies, helping develop multiple all-conference honorees.
Capalbo also brings extensive club coaching experience. He has served as a head coach with 3dLacrosse New England South and as an associate head coach with Silverbacks Lacrosse, working in practice planning, competition strategy, player development and the college recruiting process. He currently serves as associate director of The Freight Train Lacrosse Club in Massachusetts.
A former defenseman and long-stick midfielder at Albertus Magnus College, Capalbo was a three-year starter and team captain from 2021-23. He finished his career with 130 ground balls, the most by a defenseman in program history, and ranked among the program’s career leaders in caused turnovers. As a senior, he earned USILA Scholar All-America honors and was twice selected to the NEILA All-Region Academic Team.
Capalbo earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management, magna cum laude, from Albertus Magnus and a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in management from Jacksonville University.
