SPARKS, Md. -- Bates men's lacrosse senior captain midfielder
Connor Hartman and junior face-off/midfielder
Miles Schmidt were both
recognized Wednesday by USA Lacrosse Magazine for their outstanding seasons. Hartman was named a third team All-American, while Schmidt picked up an Honorable Mention from the venerable magazine.
Hartman (Hingham, Mass.) adds to his post-season accolades, as he was already named first team All-NESCAC in late April. He tallied 50 points (a career-high 44 goals, six assists) while often being the focal point of the other team's defensive game plan.
Some of his top performances included: a career-high five goals and three ground balls in a 14-8 win over Trinity, four goals in a 19-9 win over Colby, four goals in a 12-7 win over Amherst in the NESCAC quarterfinal, four goals against two-time defending NCAA Division III champion Tufts in the NESCAC semifinal, and four goals in a 17-9 win over Cortland in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Schmidt (Seattle, Wash.) recorded a face-off percentage of .601 on the season, adding a pair of goals and dishing out two assists. He dominated in the NCAA tournament, winning 15-17 faceoffs against Cortland and 20-23 faceoffs against Hope. He finished the season with a team-high 134 ground balls.
The Bobcats (12-6) wrapped up the year with the second-most wins in one season in program history and an appearance in the NCAA "Sweet 16" for the third time ever and first time since 2017.
