AMHERST, Mass. -- The Bates men's outdoor track and field team tallied 65 points against mostly NCAA Division I competition Saturday at the UMass Flagship Spring Opener, taking fifth place out of seven schools.
Meet Highlights
- Senior Aidan Rooney (Bay Shore, N.Y.) won the 800 meters in 1:56.29.
- Junior Evan Migdole (Westbrook, Conn.) was the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.31 seconds.
- Sophomore Daniel Cassata (Annandale, Va.) was the runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:50.52.
- Sophomore Eli Terrell (Barrington, R.I.) took third in the long jump with a leap of 20-7.25 (6.28m).
- Sophomore Evan Berthiaume (East Greenwich, R.I.), sophomore Ryan Harding (Wellesley, Mass.), senior captain Truman Williams (Montclair, N.J.), and senior Calvin Capelle (Laguna Beach, Calif.) teamed up to finish fourth in the 4x400 relay in 3:33.69.
- Sophomore Seneca Moore (Lansing, Mich.) finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.16 seconds.
- First-year Ryan Glaser (Rockport, Maine) took fifth in the hammer throw with a top heave of 162-4 (49.48m).
- Williams took sixth in the 400 meters in 49.84 seconds.
- First-year Max Hoffman (Wellesley, Mass.) finished sixth in the 1,500 meters in 3:56.74.
The Bobcats are back in action next weekend at the Providence College Friar Invitational on Friday and the UMass Commonwealth Invite on Saturday, with decathletes going to Smith College's two-day Carla Coffey Invitational.
