NEW ORLEANS -- The Bates men's outdoor track and field team turned in another strong season and 11 Bobcats were recognized for their performances on Wednesday with All-East Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The top-8 individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Athletic.net Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-8 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, Northeast, South, and West – match those used during the cross country season.
Bates senior captain
Ross Tejeda (Milton, Mass.) is an All-Region performer in multiple events. He picks up All-Region in the 800 meters based on his season-best time of 1:52.39, achieved at both the NESCAC Champioship meet and the Amherst Spring Fling. He is also All-Region in the 1,500 meters based on his career-best time of 3:48.13 at the MIT Final Qualifier.
Tejeda is competing Thursday in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Championships at 5:50 p.m. eastern time in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Fellow senior captain
Evan Migdole (Westbrook, Conn.) also earned All-Region in a pair of events, as he shined in the 400-meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay. Migdole's career-best time of 53.43 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles is a Bates record and he helped the 4x400 relay achieve a time of 3:20.67 at the NESCAC Championships.
Junior
Evan Berthiaume (East Greenwich, R.I.), senior captain
Reuven Frye (Montclair, N.J.), and junior
Ryan Harding (Wellesley, Mass.) join Migdole as All-Region performers in the 4x400 relay.
A pair of hammer throwers made the cut as well, with sophomores
Ryan Glaser (Rockport, Maine) and
Henry Hood (Hinsdale, N.H.) turning in strong seasons. Glaser's personal-record throw of 175-1 (53.37m) the Emory Spring Break Classic and Hood's personal-record throw of 170-10 (52.08m) at the NESCAC Championships (which was good for fourth place) make them All-Region performers.
Sophomore
Nate Roberts (Summit, N.J.) joins Tejeda as an All-Region runner in the 800 meters based on his personal-record time of 1:51.56 at the MIT Final Qualifier. Meanwhile, junior
Miles Logan (Brunswick, Maine) joins Tejeda as an All-Region runner in the 1500 meters based on his personal-record time of 3:51.57 at the MIT Final Qualifier, the seventh-fastest time in Bates history.
Senior captain
Carson Moellering (Natick, Mass.) caps off his Bates career as an All-Region decathlete. His personal-record point total of 5,743 in the decathlon at the Tufts Spring Stampede ranks 10th in Bates history. Meanwhile, first-year
George Klatsky (Falmouth, Maine) debuts as an All-Region javelin thrower, based on his post-1984 Bates record throw of 215-11 (65.82m) at the Emory Spring Break Classic.
