SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bates men's track and field team finished seventh out of 16 schools Saturday at Bryant University's Black & Gold Invitational, their second outdoor meet of the young season.

Meet Highlights

• Senior Andrew Mottur (Rumford, R.I.) returned to his home state and won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:17.17, good for sixth on the Bates all-time performance list. Sophomore Daniel Cassata (Annandale, Va.) and senior Freddie Curtis (Harvard, Mass.) also scored points for the Bobcats with top-8 finishes in the event, taking sixth (9:56.63) and eighth (9:58.84) place respectively. 
• Junior Ross Tejeda (Milton, Mass.) took second in the 800 meters in 1:54.95 and senior Calvin Capelle (Laguna Beach, Calif.) placed seventh in 1:56.06.
• Sophomore Seneca Moore (Lansing, Mich.) placed third in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.21 seconds.
• First-year Max Hoffman (Wellesley, Mass.) finished third in the 5,000 meters in 14:50.44 and first-year Nate Roberts (Summit, N.J.) came in seventh in 14:58.58.
• Senior captain Truman Williams (Montclair, N.J.) placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 22.44 seconds and sixth in the 100-meter dash in a personal-record time of 11.02 seconds.
• Junior Evan Migdole (Westbrook, Conn.) came in fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.59 seconds.

The Bobcats are back in action next Saturday when they compete at the UMass Flagship Spring Opener.
