PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- No. 20 Bates College fell to No. 17 Amherst Saturday, 7-2, on day two of the 2024 National Collegiate Women's Team Squash Championships, representing what will be the final team competition of the season for the Bobcats.
Taking on the No. 5 seeded Mammoths (13-9) in the consolation round of the tournament, the garnet and white secured its two victories at the No. 1 and 2 positions.
Andy Martagon earned her second win in as many days for the No. 8 seeded Bobcats as the senior captain outlasted Amherst's Callie DeLalio (Sr.-Syosset, N.Y.) in a five-game thriller at the No. 1 position, 9-11, 11-8, 10-12, 11-9, 11-4.
Navya Gupta also secured her second-straight win in the event as the first-year fired off a 3-0 triumph (11-7, 11-5, 15-13) at the No. 2 spot vs. Quincy Cline (Fy.-Brooklyn, N.Y.).
The Bobcats (6-12) now look ahead to next month's CSA Individual Championships, Mar. 8-10, also in Philadelphia.
