COLCHESTER, Vt. -- The Bates swimming and diving teams swept Saint Michael's College Saturday afternoon in the program's first dual meet of 2022. The No. 11 nationally ranked Bates women's team outscored the host Purple Knights by a count of 180-82 while the Bates men prevailed 178-107. 

Bates Women's Highlights

• Sophomore Natalie Young (Windham, N.H.), junior Josie Brohard (Loveland, Colo.), first-year Talia Skaistis (New York City) and first-year Sophia Carrai (Eugene, Ore.) won the 200 yard medley relay in 1:56.21. 
• Senior Maya Reynoso Williams (Somerville, Mass.) won the 1000 yard freestyle in 11:01.25.
• First-year Sophie Cassily (Rye, N.H.) won the 200 yard freestyle in 2:00.80.
• Sophomore Marjorie McLeod (Durham, Maine) won the 50 yard backstroke in 29.20.
• Senior captain Virginia Guanci (Melrose, Mass.) won the 50 yard breaststroke in 33.39. 
• Sophomore Grace Wenger (Hanover, N.H.) won the 100 yard butterfly in 1:01.09 and the 500 yard freestyle in 4:48.03.
• Senior Isabel Mohammadi-Hall (Saratoga, Calif.) won the 50 yard freestyle in 25.57 and the 50 yard butterfly in 27.94.
• Junior Abigail Gibbons (Westtown, N.Y.) won the 100 yard freestyle in 55.03 and the 200 yard IM in 2:16.30 (exhibition).
• Senior Suzy Ryckman (Riverside, Conn.) won the 100 yard backstroke in 1:02.15.
• Young won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:12.31.
• Carrai, Cassily, Gibbons and McLeod recorded the fastest time in the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:42.61 (exhibition). 

Bates Men's Highlights

• Junior Nathan Berry (Augusta, Maine), junior Nate Sommer (Terre Haute, Ind.), sophomore Will Dewey (Ithaca, N.Y.) and junior John Marcolina (Mystic, Conn.) won the 200 yard medley relay in 1:36.77.
• Senior captain Jack Johnson (Brewster, Mass.) won the 1000 yard freestyle in 10:23.97 and recorded the fastest time in the 200 yard IM, swimming to the finish in 1:59.92 (exhibition).
• Sommer won the 200 yard freestyle in 1:47.96.
• Senior Calvin Tuttle (Columbia, Md.) won the 50 yard backstroke in 25.45 and the 100 yard backstroke in 54.96.
• Junior Kona Lindsey (Colorado Springs, Colo.) won the 50 yard breaststroke in 28.47.
• Dewey won the 100 yard butterfly in 54.82.
• Berry won the 50 yard freestyle in 21.58.
• Senior captain Pieter Cory (Dublin, Calif.) won the 100 yard freestyle in 46.88.
• First-year Jaewoo Kim (San Ramon, Calif.) won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:01.72.
• Sophomore Mark Gregory (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) won the 500 yard freestyle in 4:55.60.
• Marcolina won the 50 yard butterfly in 24.05.
• Berry, Cory, first-year Griffin Trygg (New Canaan, Conn.) and Marcolina recorded the fastest time in the 200 yard freestyle relay, racing to the finish in 1:24.12 (exhibition). 

The Bobcats are back in action Sunday morning for a dual meet at Middlebury that gets underway at 11am.
