GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Bates men's swimming student-athletes
Marrich Somridhivej and
Benjamin Wolking both received the selective honor of CSC Academic All-America® on Tuesday, as the College Sports Communicators announced the Academic All-America® Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Teams.
They become the 23rd and 24th CSC Academic All-America® honorees in the history of Bates athletics. This also marks the second time that two Bates athletes from the same sport have earned CSC Academic All-America® accolades in the same season.
Somridhivej, a resident of South Windsor, Conn., maintains a 3.93 grade-point average as a biology major. A two-time Academic All-District® selection, Marrich is also a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American and two-time NESCAC All-Academic pick. The senior dazzled at the NCAA DII Championship last month, collecting championships in both 100-yard breaststroke and the national record-breaking 400-yard medley. Somridhivej finishes his Bates career as a two-time national champion and a 10-time All-American.
Wolking, from Micanopy, Fla., possesses a perfect 4.00 GPA as a biomedical engineering major. The junior, along with
Max Cory,
John Weigel, and Somridhivej, won the NESCAC title in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a new school, conference, meet, and pool record time of 1:19.47. The quartet took fifth-place nationally in the event, the best 200-yard freestyle relay finish for Bates at the NCAA Championships in program history.
Somridhivej and Wolking were named to the first and third Division III Academic All-America® teams, respectively.
The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Division III Academic All-America® program.
