RIPTON, Vt. -- The Bates Nordic skiing team wrapped up the 2026 season with the 20K freestyle race Saturday at the Middlebury Carnival, held at Rikert Outdoor Center.
A trio of sophomores paced the women's team.
Hannah Grohman (Biddeford, Maine) led the way for the Bobcats, taking 34th out of 64 competitors with a time of 59:06.7. Grohman earned 17 carnival points for her efforts.
Margaret Voisin (Montpelier, Vt.) took 40th place, crossing the finish line in 1:00:38.3 and earning 15 carnival points.
Greta Hendrickson (Duluth, Minn.) rounded out the scoring for Bates in 42nd place with a time of 1:00:53.8, enough for 13 carnival points.
On the men's side, sophomore
Oliver Wilson (Dublin, N.H.) took 39th place out of 60 skiers with his time of 55:01.7, pacing the Bobcats and earning 14 carnival points. Classmate
Cabot Godoy (Mammoth Lakes, Calif.) crossed the finish line in 55:52.4, good for 46th place and 12 carnival points. First-year
Forrest Slingerland (Glens Falls, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring in 49th place with a time of 56:48.9, earning 10 carnival points.
With it being the final carnival weekend of the season, the Nordic skiing team recognized their pair of senior captains:
Liza Bell (Putney, Vt.) and
Sydney Wilmot (Jackson, Wyo.).
The Bobcats combined with the alpine skiing team to score 311.5 points at the Middlebury Carnival, good for 11th place out of 14 schools.
