CRAFTSBURY, Vt. -- Sophomore
Oliver Wilson led the way for the Bates Nordic skiing team in the 1.3K classical technique sprints Friday at the UVM Carnival, held at Craftsbury Outdoor Center.
Wilson (Dublin, N.H.) raced to the finish in 3:34.3, taking 41st place out of 97 competitors in the men's race and earning 11 carnival points. Sophomore
Cabot Godoy (Mammoth Lakes, Calif.) crossed the finish line in 3:55.8, good for 49th place and eight carnival points. First-year
Forrest Slingerland (Glens Falls, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring for the Bobcats in 74th place in 3:47.5, good for four carnival points.
Sophomore
Hannah Grohman (Biddeford, Maine) paced the Bobcats in the women's race, taking 55th place out of 102 competitors with her time of 4:27.5, earning 10 carnival points. First-year
Zoe Sumner (Minneapolis, Minn.) and senior captain
Sydney Wilmot (Jackson, Wyo.) rounded out the scoring in 61st and 69th place, respectively. Sumner crossed the finish line in 4:29.8, earning eight carnival points. Meanwhile, Wilmot recorded a time of 4:33.6, good for six carnival points.
Combined, the Nordic and alpine skiing teams sit in ninth place out of 14 EISA schools with 236 carnival points and one event remaining.
The Bates Nordic skiing team is back in action Saturday to wrap up the UVM Carnival with the 10K freestyle race.
