BRUNSWICK, Maine -- First-year
Maeve Ginevan turned in the performance of the day for the Bates women's cross country team, placing sixth out of 41 runners Saturday at the CBB Meet, held at Bowdoin's Pickard Field.
Ginevan (Falmouth, Maine) recorded a time of 16:31.8 in the 4.5K race to pace the Bobcats. She was joined in the top 20 by four other Bates runners, as the Bobcats gave their less experienced athletes a chance to shine, while Colby and Bowdoin both entered their top runners.
First-year
Lily Day (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) took 10th with a time of 16:38.6 and classmate
Annalise Wood (Hinesburg, Vt.) was right behind her in 11th with a time of 16:39.2. First-years
Eleanor McCourt (Farmington, Maine) and
Evan Register (Durham, N.C.) rounded out the top 20 finishers for Bates in 19th and 20th respectively.
The Bobcats will unleash their top runners in two weeks when they look to defend their Maine State Meet title at Pickard Field.
