Leah White wraps up strong season at NCAA Women's Cross Country Championships

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Bates junior captain Leah White wrapped up her outstanding fall season on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships, where she finished 124th out of 290 competitors at Roger Milliken Center.

White (Ann Arbor, Mich.) raced to the finish of the 6-kilometer course in 22:58.7, good for a spot in the top half of the field. Middlebury's Audrey Maclean won the race in 20:16.8 while New York University took home the team national championship.

This marks the third straight year that White has competed at NCAAs for the Bobcats. She paced Bates in every race this season, earning All-State, All-NESCAC, and All-New England honors. This was her best result yet at NCAAs. White placed 149th in 2023 and did not finish the race last year.

Bates women's cross country has had representation at the NCAA Championships each of the past nine seasons. White and the Bobcats now turn their attention to track and field, which begins Dec. 6 with meets at Bowdoin and at Boston University.
