BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Bates women's cross country junior captain
Leah White turned in an outstanding race Friday at the Paul Short run, pacing the Bobcats and taking 28th place in a field of 422 runners.
As a team, the Bobcats placed 22nd out of 45 schools in the aptly named "white race", with White (Ann Arbor, Mich.) crossing the finish line in 21:55.8, the eight-fastest time among NESCAC runners at the meet.Â
A trio of first-years scored points for the Bobcats in the race, withÂ
Maeve Ginevan (Falmouth, Maine) finishing second on the team and 122nd overall in 23:00.1. Fellow rookies
Lily Day (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) andÂ
Annalise Wood (Hinesburg, Vt.) took 154th and 187th with times of 23:14.6 and 23:36.7, respectively.Â
Senior captain
Lucy Paynter (Hillsborough, Calif.) rounded out the scoring in 201st place with a time of 23:47.4.
A number of Bobcats entered the women's open 6K race on Friday, with first-yearÂ
Eleanor McCourt (Farmington, Maine) recording a time of 24:49.2 to pace Bates, good for 276th in a field of 462 runners.
Bates women's cross country is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18 when the Bobcats compete at the Connecticut College Invitational.
