WATERFORD, Conn. -- The Bates women's cross country team competed at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday, placing 26th out of 33 schools in the "Blue" race and 21st out of 33 schools in the "White" race.
Junior captain
Leah White (Ann Arbor, Mich.) was once again the top performer for the Bobcats, placing 40th out of 261 competitors in the "Blue" race, which featured the top runners in the field. White crossed the finish line in 21:48.1, The next-fastest Bates runner in the "Blue" race proved to be White's fellow junior captainÂ
Gwendolyn Anderson (Boone, N.C.), who clocked in at 22:56.4, good for 118th place. First-yearÂ
Maeve Ginevan (Falmouth, Maine) also finished in the top 200, placing 157th with her time of 23:20.2.
Senior
Kayla Burnham (Hartland, Vt.) led the Bobcats in the "White" race, crossing the finish line in 24:07.2. She placed 86th out of 345 runners in the field. First-year
Annika Carpenter (San Francisco, Calif.) and sophomore
Julia Young (Westborough, Mass.) both placed in the top 150 of the race, with Carpenter finishing in 124th with a time of 24:41.3 and Young crossing the finish line in 145th place with a time of 24:58.5.
The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, Nov. 1 when they compete at the NESCAC Championships, which will also be hosted by Connecticut College at Harkness Park.
