HOPKINTON, N.H. --
Leah White (Jr.),
Gwendolyn Anderson (Jr.), and
Maeve Ginevan (Fy.) each earned USTFCCCA All-East Region honors with Top-35 finishes Saturday as Bates women's cross country placed sixth out of 30 schools at the NCAA East Regional Championship, held at Hopkinton Fair Grounds.
White, now a three-time All-Region selection, paced the Bobcats with a remarkable third-place finish of 21.29 on the 6K course, providing Bates its best individual regional performance since
Jillian Richardson's ('23) first-place time of 21:41.1 in 2022. Anderson (22:32) and Ginevan (22:34) crossed the finish line two seconds apart, taking 28th and 29th place, respectively.
First-years
Lily Day (49th, 23:17) and
Annalise Wood (55th, 23:31) rounded out Bates' Top-5 finishers, while senior
Lucy Paynter (57th, 23:36) and sophomore
Mikayla Ferguson (64th, 23:48) completed Saturday's entries for the garnet and white.
Tufts collected the East Regional team title with 51 points, while MIT served as runner-up (61 points). Brandeis (3rd-place, 116), Suffolk (4th, 153), and Bowdoin (5th, 158) also placed above the Bobcats in the final standings.
Bates now awaits its fate regarding the 2025 NCAA Championships. The 22 at-large team bids and individual bids will be announced on Sunday on
NCAA.com.
