Baseball's Swift and Cariello named second team All-State

LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates baseball first-years David Swift and Charlie Cariello have been named second team All-State, as announced Wednesday by the Maine College Baseball & Softball Association.

This is just the latest honor for Swift (Yarmouth, Maine), who earlier this month became the first Bates baseball first-year in program history to earn All-NESCAC honors. The first baseman led Bates in OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) at .888. His seven home runs this season are the most by a Bobcat since Nate Pajka '15 smacked eight long balls in 2015 and the most by a Bates rookie since Pajka started his career with seven homers in 2012. Swift also led the Bobcats with 28 RBIs.

Cariello (Bedford, N.H.) made 12 appearances out of the bullpen and held opponents to a .236 batting average in 19.1 innings pitched. His ERA of 4.19 was the lowest on the Bobcats this season and he notched a pair of saves, one against Tufts and one against Bowdoin. Cariello also picked up his first collegiate win when he got the victory out of the bullpen against Trinity.

The Bobcats wrapped up the 2025 campaign with 12 wins, including four in NESCAC play.
