LEWISTON, Maine -- Five Bobcats have been selected to the College Sports Communicators Baseball Academic All-District® Team, announced Tuesday. Seniors
Gibby Sullivan,
John Tully and
Joe Yoxall, along with sophomores
John Federico and
David Swift, have earned recognition on this elite list.
Sullivan returns to the All-District® Team for a third-straight season while Tully lands on the squad for a second-consecutive campaign. Federico, Swift, and Yoxall make their respective All-District® debuts.
A politics major, Sullivan earns his third-consecutive selection with a 3.68 grade-point average. Hailing from Yarmouth, Maine, the infielder also earned his third NESCAC All-Academic nod this spring.
Gibby, a first team All-NESCAC and second team All-State selection, broke the Bates record for RBI in one season this year with 46. He had by far his best season as a Bobcat, slashing a career-best .336/.416/.509 while scoring 30 runs, smacking a career-high six doubles, and launching three home runs. He had some huge games in NESCAC play, going 4-5 with a run scored and three RBI in a win over Trinity and 2-4 with two runs scored and six RBI against Colby.
Tully, who accumulated a 3.61 GPA as a politics major, returns to this elite list.
From Framingham, Mass.,Tully was named first team All-State and second team All-NESCAC this season. The right-hander was lights out for the Bobcats, winning his first four starts of the season on his way to a 6-3 record and a 2.38 ERA, both career-bests. He held opponents to a .244 batting average and walked just 12 batters in 53 innings pitched. During the season, the two-time NESCAC All-Academic selection beat Bowdoin with six innings of two-run ball and ended his career on a high-note with a career-high eight strikeouts in a complete-game 9-1 win over Lesley.
Federico, who has yet to declare a major, debuts on the All-District® Team with a 3.55 grade-point average. The second team All-NESCAC pick had a breakthrough sophomore season for the Bobcats, hitting .321 (34-106) while starting all 30 games at shortstop. He stole 13 bases in 14 attempts in his first full year as a starter for Bates. Residing in Durham, N.H., Federico is also a earned his first-career NESCAC All-Academic honor this spring.
Swift, an economics major from Yarmouth, Maine, lands on this list with a 3.68 GPA. The 2025 second team All-NESCAC and All-State selection started all 30 games for the garnet and white this spring, batting .274 (29-for-106) with three homers, five doubles, and 24 RBI. Also a NESCAC All-Academic recipient, David posted a splendid .996 fielding percentage, committing just one error on 232 total chances at first base.
Yoxall authored a GPA of 3.57 as a psychology major. The Dallas, Texas native started every game for Bates, hitting .258 (23-for-89) 16 walks, and 22 runs scored. The second baseman collected his first-career NESCAC All-Academic nod this spring.
The 2026 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
