BOSTON, MEDFORD, Mass., and BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Bates women's indoor track and field team split up Friday and Saturday as athletes competed at three different meets, with a number of standout performances.
Valentine Invitational Highlights
- Senior Isabelle Demeritt (Acton, Mass.) recorded a personal-record time of 10:01.95 in the 3,000 meters, good for eighth on the Bates all-time performance list.
- Sophomore Lia Traficonte (Cumberland, Maine) notched a personal-record time of 1:00.97 in the 400-meter dash, and junior Gabby Monaco (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was right behind her, also setting a personal record with a mark of 1:01.01.
- Junior captain Lucy Paynter (Hillsborough, Calif.) placed second in her section with a personal-record time of 2:26.32 in the 800 meters.
- Sophomores Meadow Gregory (Exeter, N.H.) and Leah White (Ann Arbor, Mich.) both recorded personal-record times in the mile, with Gregory crossing the finish line in 5:17.51 and White close behind at 5:18.15.
Tufts Stampede Open Highlights
- Senior Sophie Demeritt (Acton, Mass.) qualified for the New England Division III Championships and took third in the 3,000 meters with a personal-record time of 10:30.56. Senior captain Lily Miller (Claremont, Calif. ) was seventh in the same race, recording a personal-record time of 10:44.07.
Lynn Ruddy Invitational Highlights
The Bobcats took second place out of nine teams, scoring 100.5 points over the course of two days at Bowdoin's Lynn Ruddy Invitational.
- Sophomore Emily Cain (Burien, Wash.) won the 60-meter dash in 8.03 seconds.
- Sophomore Alannah Ardrey (New York City) won the triple jump with a top mark of 36-3 (11.05m) and first-year Campbell Johnson (Naples, Maine) finished third at 34-8.25 (10.57m).
- Junior captain Carli Ciavarelli (Ridgefield, Conn.) won the 20-pound weight throw with a top heave of 52-0.5 (15.86m).
- Sophomore Carly Buck (Arlington, Mass.) won the high jump with a top clearance of 4-9 (1.45m).
- First-year Kyra Buckley (Peabody, Mass.) placed second in the 1,000 meters in a personal-record time of 3:20.16.
- Sophomore Jasmine Gray (Newton, Pa.) was fourth in the pole vault with a top clearance of 9-2.25 (2.80m), tying her for 10th on the Bates all-time performance list in the event.
- First-year Alexia Zamora (North Salem, N.Y.) placed fifth in the 400 meters in a personal-record time of 1:04.86.
- First-year Marie-Ève Maillet (Saint-Antoine, New Brunswick) placed fourth in the shot put at 37-1 (11.30m) and sixth in the weight throw at 40-10.5 (12.46m).
- First-year Juno Rogers (Decatur, Ga.) took fourth Friday in the pentathlon, scoring 2,709 points. She won the 60-meter hurdles in 9.61 seconds and set personal records in the high jump with a mark of 4-9.75 (1.47m) and the shot put with a top throw of 29-10 (9.09m).
