Bobcats place fifth overall at conference championship meet

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Bates women's track and field first-year Alisandra Lindos won the triple jump and the Bobcats finished fifth overall at the NESCAC Championships, held Saturday and Sunday at the Weston Athletic Complex.

The Bobcats scored 68.5 points as a team, well-ahead of sixth-place Conn. College (53) and rivals Bowdoin (48) and Colby (22). It's the best finish for Bates women's track and field at the conference championship meet since 2019.

Meet Highlights
  • Lindos (Westbrook, Maine) led a 1-2 Bates finish in the triple jump with her personal-record leap of 38-11.5 (11.87m), becoming the first NESCAC champion in any event for the Bates women's team since 2019 and the first women's team rookie to capture a conference title since 2017. Lindos currently ranks 13th in all of NCAA Division III in the triple jump.
  • Sophomore Campbell Johnson (Naples, Maine) earned All-NESCAC (top-three) honors in a pair of events. She placed runner-up to Lindos in the triple jump with a personal-record mark of 38-7.75 (11.78m) and was the runner-up in the high jump as well with a personal-record leap of 5-3.75 (1.62m), good for third on the Bates top 10 all-time performance list. Lindos and Johnson rank second and third, respectively, in Bates history in the outdoor triple jump.
  • Senior captain Carli Ciavarelli (Ridgefield, Conn.) earned the first All-NESCAC honors of her career, taking second place in the hammer throw with her career-best toss of 169-4 (51.62m) coming on her final attempt of the day. That mark places Ciavarelli 23rd in NCAA Division III in the hammer throw.
  • First-year Hannah Pawlowski (Bow, N.H.) placed fourth in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line in the final in 2:10.93. She had previously set a personal record while placing fifth in the prelims in 2:10.73. Pawlowski currently ranks 15th in NCAA Division III in the 800 meters.
  • Junior Alannah Ardrey (New York City) and sophomore Juno Rogers (Decatur, Ga.) joined Johnson in scoring points in the high jump, with Ardrey placing fifth with a top clearance of 5-2.25 (1.58m) and Rogers tying for sixth with a top effort of 5-0.25 (1.53m).
