BOSTON -- The Bates men's track and field team started 2025 at the Suffolk Relays, held Saturday at the TRACK at new balance, and the Bobcats won a pair of events to go along with a number of other impressive performances at the non-scoring meet, which featured a number of Division I teams.
Meet Highlights
- The Bates 4x400 relay team of sophomore Ryan Harding (Wellesley, Mass.), sophomore Evan Berthiaume (East Greenwich, R.I.), junior Reuven Frye (Montclair, N.J.) and senior captain Truman Williams (Montclair, N.J.) won their race in 3:27.46, nearly a full four seconds ahead of runner-up Sacred Heart.
- Sophomore Seneca Moore (Lansing, Mich.) won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.34 seconds.
- Williams moved from seventh to fourth on the Bates all-time performance list in the 60-meter dash with his time of 7.05 seconds, winning his section and placing 11th overall in the event at the meet.
- Harding moved into 10th on the Bates all-time performance list in the indoor 200-meter dash with his time of 22.63 seconds, winning his section and placing ninth overall in the event at the meet.
- First-year Nate Roberts (Summit, N.J.) won his section and took seventh overall in the 1,000 meters in 2:30.24.
- Senior Aidan Rooney (Bay Shore, N.Y.) took eighth in the mile in 4:20.76.
- Junior Carson Moellering (Natick, Mass.) recorded a personal best in the high jump, clearing the bar at 6-0 (1.83m) to earn fourth place at the meet in the event.
- First-year Nick Nicolazzo IV (Wellesley, Mass.) placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 43-8.5 (13.32m) on his final attempt.
- Sophomore Matt Charpentier (Cape Neddick, Maine) finished seventh in the shot put with his top heave of 47-7 (14.50m).
- Senior Solomon Sakakeeny-Smith (Boston) had a big breakthrough in the weight throw with a personal-record toss of 52-7.5 (16.04m), good for fifth place at the meet.
The Bobcats are back in action this Friday and Saturday when they host the Bates Invitational & Multi at Merrill Gym.
