CANTON, N.Y. -- No. 22 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team fell just short Monday at No. 25 St. Lawrence University, 5-4, despite receiving victories in the first four slots of its lineup as the Bobcats took to the road for the first time in 2023.
Andy Martagon (Jr.-Puebla, Mexico),
Aasya Patel (Fy.-Madhya Pradesh, India),
Erika Parker (So.-San Salvador, El Salvador), and
Cordelia Dotson (Sr.-Prides Crossing, Mass.) each recorded triumphs in their respective matches.
Martagon, at the No. 1 position, needed four games to dismiss St. Lawrence's Abhisheka David, doing so with scores of 11-9, 11-5, 3-11 and 11-9. Patel followed at No. 2 as the first-year Bobcat made quick work of Madeleine Martin (17-15, 11-6, 11-5) to earn the victory. Parker completed the Top-3 sweep for the home team with her own 3-0 blanking (11-5, 11-3, 11-8).
Dotson earned a hard-fought five-game victory, a 3-2 (11-9, 11-9, 7-11, 8-11, 11-3) win over Ulrikke Bore Ribesen at the No. 4 position.
The Bobcats (1-7) look to snap their four-match losing streak Tuesday with an 11:00 a.m. visit scheduled at #13 William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y.
