LEWISTON, Maine -- No. 28 nationally ranked Bates women's squash fell just short to No. 20 Colby College Wednesday as the Mules edged the host-Bobcats, 5-4, in the Bates Squash Center.
Aasya Patel (Fy.-Madhya Pradesh, India),
Erika Parker (So.-San Salvador, El Salvador),
Grace Flaherty (So.-Malvern, Pa.) and
Cordelia Dotson (Sr.-Prides Crossing, Mass.) each recorded triumphs in their respective matches for the garnet and white.
Patel, at the No. 2 position, needed four games to dismiss Colby's Norma Aileen Dominguez Jimenez, doing so with scores of 12-10, 8-11, 11-7, 11-9. Flaherty (12-10, 17-15, 8-11, 11-7) and Dotson (4-11, 11-5, 11-2, 11-9) recorded 3-1 wins of their own at No. 4 and 5, respectively.
No. 3 Parker, having already won the first game of her match (11-4), and leading game two by a score of 10-3, was credited with a 1-0 victory after opponent, Celine Odegard, was forced to retire.
The Bobcats (3-12) look to snap their two-match losing streak, and close out the 2022-23 regular season on a high note, this Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. home contest vs. #11 Tufts. Bates will honor its senior class during a special ceremony prior to competition.
