MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- The No. 16 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team got a win at the No. 1 position and beat No. 14 Middlebury 6-3 Sunday afternoon.
Bates (3-5) also got a couple wins in the middle of the lineup against the Panthers (2-2), and picked up three victories by default at the bottom of the lineup.
Sophomore
Andrea Martagon (Puebla, Mexico) swept her opponent at the No. 1 position, defeating Middlebury's Ideal Dowling 3-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-7).Â
In the middle of the lineup, junior
Ella Lungstrum (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won three tightly contested games in her 3-0 (11-9, 12-10, 11-8) win over Caroline Arena at the No. 4 position. At No. 5, sophomore
Marina McGuire (Cambridge, Mass.) completed an undefeated weekend, defeating Eva Finney 3-1 (11-6, 10-12, 11-5, 11-5).Â
The Bobcats return to action Tuesday when they host Ivy League opponent Columbia University at 10am. No spectators are permitted but fans can watch select matches on theÂ
