No. 17 women's squash picks up 6-3 win on Senior Day over No. 20 St. Lawrence

LEWISTON, Maine -- Senior Natasha Jones earned a win on Senior Day to highlight a 6-3 victory for the No. 17 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team over No. 20 St. Lawrence Sunday at the Bates College Squash Center.

Jones (Roslindale, Mass.) won her first two games and then held off a rally from St. Lawrence's Ulrikke Bore Ribesen to prevail 3-1 (11-7, 11-4, 7-11, 11-3) at the No. 5 position in her final home match as a Bobcat. She was part of a strong middle of the lineup for Bates (4-8), as the Bobcats swept the No. 3 through six positions. 

At No. 3, first-year Grace Flaherty (Malvern, Pa.) split her first two games before winning 3-1 (11-8, 11-13, 11-7, 11-5) over St. Lawrence's Makyla Kelley. In the longest match of the day, junior Ella Lungstrum (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned a 3-1 (15-13, 13-11, 7-11, 11-4) victory in 31 minutes over Petra DeRose at the No. 4 position. 

Junior Cordelia Dotson (Houston, Texas) picked up one of two sweeps for the Bobcats against the Saints (8-5) on the day, winning 3-0 (11-7, 11-5, 11-9) over Margaret Fleischner at the No. 6 position. Junior Lucy Moseley (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded the other sweep, winning 3-0 (11-9, 11-9, 11-3) at the No. 9 position over Katherine Leiva.

Sophomore Andrea Martagon (Puebla, Mexico) impressed at the top of the lineup, winning 3-1 (13-11, 11-8, 8-11, 12-10) over Anannya Morey at the No. 1 position.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Feb. 11 through Sunday, Feb. 13 at the NESCAC Championships, hosted by Hamilton College.
