LEWISTON, Maine -- Two Bobcats took games from their opponents on Tuesday but the No. 16 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team fell 9-0 to No. 6 Columbia at the Bates College Squash Center.
Senior
Natasha Jones (Roslindale, Mass.) gave Columbia's Bunny Fox all she could handle at the No. 5 position, dropping the first game 12-10 and winning the third game 11-4. But Fox ended up prevailing in four games 3-1 (12-10, 11-4, 4-11, 11-2) in 22 minutes. Senior captain
Natalie Bachman (New Canaan, Conn.) played a very competitive match at the No. 9 position, taking the third game before falling 3-1 (11-7, 11-9, 9-11, 12-10) to Columbia's Julia Fink.
The Bobcats (2-7) have played a very challenging schedule, with Columbia (4-1) being the third Ivy League opponent they've faced this season.
Bates looks to bounce back Thursday when the Bobcats welcome No. 10 nationally ranked Amherst to town for a match that gets underway at 5pm. No spectators are allowed but fans can watch select matches on theÂ
