NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine -- The No. 22 nationally ranked Bates women's cross country team again showed tremendous depth, as the Bobcats outpaced both No. 5 Tufts and Connecticut College in the Bates Super XC Shootout Saturday at Pineland Farms.
Bates placed 14 runners among the top 19 individuals in the race, scoring 90 points to claim first place ahead of Tufts (178) and Connecticut College (235). Each team's top 10 runners counted in the scoring, with two displacers after that.
Tufts' Danielle Page (18:08.1) and Meghan Davis (18:26.0) were the first two runners to cover the hilly and wooded 6-kilometer course, but after that it was all Bobcats.
JuniorÂ
Jillian Richardson (Auburn, Maine)Â took third place overall and again led Bates with a time of 18:44.4. Juniors
 Sarah Gallagher (Dummerston, Vt.) andÂ
Beth Annese (Needham, Mass.) also turned in top-five, personal-best performances at 19:15.2 and 19:15.9, respectively.

Tara Ellard (Brewster, Mass.) took sixth place overall (19:19.2), while first-yearÂ
Olivia Reynolds (Cumberland, Maine) and junior
 Ilana Zeilinger (Washington, D.C.) placed eighth (19:32.6) and 10th (19:41.0), respectively.

Bates returns to Pineland Farms on Oct. 2 to host the Maine State Championships, where the Bobcats will be looking for their fifth straight state title.
