PHILADELPHIA -- The No. 15 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team took three matches to four games but fell 9-0 Sunday to No. 9 University of Pennsylvania.
Junior captain Erika Parker (San Salvador, El Salvador) gave Penn's Amina Tamer all she could handle, dropping the first game by two points and taking the second game 13-11 before Tamer pulled away to win 3-1 (11-9, 11-13, 11-3, 11-6) at the No. 2 position.
First-year Grace Flaherty (Malvern, Pa.) won the second game of her match by a count of 11-7 before falling to Navmi Sharma 3-1 (11-2, 7-11, 11-4, 11-2) at the No. 4 position. And senior Natasha Jones (Roslindale, Mass.) took Penn's Eujung Park to four games by winning game three 11-9 before Park prevailed 3-1 (11-5, 11-7, 9-11, 11-4) at the No. 5 position.
The Quakers (6-2) pick up their sixth victory of the season and the Bobcats (1-2) return to action Thursday, December 2 when they host Bowdoin at 6:30pm.
