PHILADELPHIA -- The No. 15 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team fell 9-0 to No. 8 Cornell before bouncing back with a 5-4 win over No. 18 Dickinson Saturday at the University of Pennsylvania. 

After being swept by the Big Red (2-0) in the early afternoon, the bottom of the lineup shined for the Bobcats (1-1) in their match against the Red Devils (1-5) Saturday evening. 

Senior Natasha Jones (Roslindale, Mass.) rallied from down a game to prevail 3-1 (4-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-5) at the No. 5 position over Dickinson's Eloise Nimoityn. Junior Ella Lungstrum (Brooklyn, N.Y.) split her first two games before pulling away with a 3-1 (11-6, 8-11, 11-5, 11-6) victory at No. 6 over Whitney Finney.

Junior Victoria Haghighi (Bronx, N.Y.) had perhaps the strongest day of any Bobcat, batting her Cornell opponent to four games and winning 3-1 (11-2, 11-7, 6-11, 11-3) over Dickinson's Cate Moll at the No. 7 position. 

At the No. 8 and 9 positions, a sophomore and a senior captain picked up wins for Bates. Sophomore Marina McGuire (Cambridge, Mass.) picked up her first collegiate win by sweeping Ellissa Goldman 3-0 (11-7, 11-5, 11-3) at No. 8 and senior captain Natalie Bachman (New Canaan, Conn.) won in four games at No. 9 with a 3-1 (11-7, 8-11, 11-3, 12-10) victory over Dickinson's Emerson Rains.

The Bates women's squash team returns to action Sunday morning when they take on No. 9 nationally ranked University of Pennsylvania at 10am.
