MANCHESTER, Conn. -- Junior
Jillian Richardson led the way in sixth place overall as the No. 15 nationally ranked Bates women's cross country team placed fourth out of 11 teams, one point behind third-place Middlebury, on Sunday at the NESCAC Championship.
The Bobcats finished with 94 team points, one behind No. 16 nationally ranked Middlebury (93), which took third place behind No. 6 Williams (65) and No. 14 Tufts (78). No. 19 Amherst rounded out the top five teams with 150 points.
The top-five finish in Division III's most competitive cross country league was Bates' sixth in a row, a streak dating to 2015.
Richardson (Auburn, Maine) claimed First Team All-NESCAC honors for her top-seven individual finish, her second All-NESCAC honor in as many opportunities. She finished the 6-kilometer course at Wickham Park in 23:30.9 to lead the Bobcats for the fifth time in as many races this season.

Sarah Gallagher (Dummerston, Vt.) and senior captain
Tara Ellard (Brewster, Mass.) gave Bates three runners among the top 16 individuals, with Gallagher placing 15th in 24:23.4 and Ellard 0.4 seconds behind her in 16th place among 148 runners overall.
Olivia Reynolds (Cumberland, Maine) was the fourth first-year runner in the field to cross the finish line, placing 24th in 24:41.3. Senior
Carly Harris (Orinda, Calif.) rounded out Bates' team scoring with an outstanding 33rd-place finish in 25:00.6, the best race of her career.
Junior
Jordan Wilson (Medfield, Mass.) placed 40th overall in 25:22.3 and junior
Ilana Zeilinger (Washington, D.C.) placed 43rd in 25:27.9 to serve as Bates' two scoring displacers. Several teammates were close behind them, including sophomore
Anne-Gamble Jennings (Richmond, Va.) in 46th place (25:34.5) and sophomore
Kahryn Cullenberg (Chesterville, Maine) in 47th place (25:34.7).
The Bobcats will next compete in the NCAA East Region Championships, held Saturday Nov. 13 at Franklin Park in Boston, with the men's race beginning at 11am followed by the women's race at noon.
