No. 20 men's squash gets wins from Muldoon and Koenigsbauer in 7-2 loss at No. 21 MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Sophomore Dylan Muldoon won his third straight match and first-year Peter Koenigsbauer remained undefeated when playing in the starting lineup this season but the No. 20 nationally ranked Bates men's squash team fell 7-2 at No. 21 MIT on Wednesday.

Muldoon (Devonshire, Bermuda) improved his personal record to 5-5 this season, rallying from down two games to one to defeat Robert Williamson 3-2 (10-12, 11-7, 4-11, 11-7, 11-6) at the No. 8 position.

Meanwhile, Koenigsbauer (Seattle, Wash.) continues to make the most of his chances whenever he is inserted in the starting lineup. He first got an opportunity earlier this month and won 3-0 at the No. 8 position against his opponent from Wesleyan. Then he got another chance in Bates' most recent match before Wednesday, when he won 3-0 at the No. 9 position against Connecticut College. This time, he had to work very hard for the win, but Koenigsbauer prevailed 3-2 (13-11, 5-11, 13-15, 11-3, 12-10) over MIT's Justin Restivo at the No. 9 position to improve his personal record when in the starting lineup to 3-0 on the season.

The Bobcats (5-6) kept Wednesday's match with the Engineers (12-3) close, with only two matches decided in three games. But MIT got the wins it needed to pull out the victory, with Vedaant Paul Kukadia clinching the match for the Engineers at the No. 4 position.

Bates is back in action Friday when the Bobcats take on Tufts on the campus of Harvard University at 6pm.
