Dennis Welte, Bates men's squash could not garner a favorable result as No. 13 Williams defeated the No. 25 Bobcats, 8-1, in Saturday action.
Welte, playing at the No. 1 position, split his first two games vs. senior Asher Leavy (Princeton, N.J.) by scores of 11-6, 9-11. Leavy proceeded to take game three, 11-3, before Welte stormed back with victories of 11-6 and 11-1 for the emphatic 3-2 triumph.
The Ephs, winners of two in a row, improve to 11-7 overall with the home win. The garnet and white goes to 4-10 on the year.
Bates will close out regular-season play Sunday when the Bobcats visit No. 28 St. Lawrence at noon.
