HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates men's squash sophomore captain
Dennis Welte is a first team All-NESCAC selection, as announced Tuesday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
Welte (Stuttgart, Germany) ended the season absolutely on fire for the Bobcats, winning seven straight matches and nine of his last 10 while playing at the No. 1 position in the lineup. Overall, the 2025 NESCAC Rookie of the Year went 12-5 in his sophomore campaign. It was Welte's first year at the top of the lineup after having posted a 7-9 record while mostly playing at the No. 2 position as a first-year. Now a two-time All-NESCAC selection, Welte beat opponents from the likes of Williams, Bowdoin, Colby, and Middlebury, among others, during his strong finish for Bates.
As a team, Bates men's squash finished the 2025-26 season ranked No. 28 in the country, qualifying for the Summers Cup (C Flight) tournament at the College Squash Association Divisional Championships.
