WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Bates College men's lacrosse team came back from a very early 4-0 deficit to beat Colby College 9-7 on Wednesday at Bill Alfond Field and stay undefeated at 9-0, 5-0 in the conference.
The Mules (2-5, 0-4 NESCAC) started the game with four straight goals in the first half of the first quarter, until junior attack Matt Erisman (Nantucket, Mass.) broke the ice with a goal on an assist from senior David Pritchard (Narbeth, Pa.).
Bates, ranked No. 10 in Division III in the latest USILA coaches' poll, quickly built momentum and took a 5-4 lead before Colby retied it at 5 before halftime.
Erisman scored two quick goals to open the third quarter, then added another one after the Mules closed it to 8-6.
