NEW ORLEANS -- The Bates women's track and field team was honored last Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for their achievements in the classroom.

The Bobcats achieved a team cumulative grade point average of 3.67, good for All-Academic Team honors from the USTFCCCA. The minimum threshold to be named an All-Academic Team is a 3.1 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

In addition, six Bobcats were named USTFCCCA Women's All-Academic Athletes. In order to be named an All-Academic athlete by the USTFCCCA, student-athletes must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale through the most recently completed grading period. And on top of that, athletes need to have finished the season ranked in the top 50 in the country in an individual event, or top 35 in a relay. 

Psychology major Graca Bila '28 (Westbrook, Maine), biology major and team captain Carli Ciavarelli '26 (Ridgefield, Conn.), biology major Campbell Johnson '28 (Naples, Maine), Hannah Pawlowski '29 (Bow, N.H.), sociology major Juno Rogers '28 (Decatur, Ga.), and American Studies major and team captain Moriah Scharn '26 (Dunstable, Mass.) all earned this prestigious honor.

This is the second straight year that Johnson has been named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete.
