NEW ORLEANS -- The Bates women's outdoor track and field team turned in another strong season and 16 Bobcats were recognized for their performances on Wednesday with All-East Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The top-8 individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Athletic.net Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-8 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, Northeast, South, and West – match those used during the cross country season.
Two relay teams cracked the list for Bates, with the 4x400 relay team of junior
Lia Traficonte (Cumberland, Maine), first-year
Charlotte Everhart (Vienna, Va.), sophomore
Alexia Zamora (North Salem, N.Y.), and first-year
Hannah Pawlowski (Bow, N.H.) recording a time of 3:53.44 at the NESCAC Championships, third-fastest mark in Bates history. Pawlowski is a two-time All-Region performer this season thanks to her career-best time of 2:10.73 at the NESCAC Championships in the 800 meters, good for third on the Bates all-time performance list in the event.
Traficonte is joined by sophomore
Madison Alves (Stoneham, Mass.), sophomore
Graca Bila (Westbrook, Maine), and junior
Anushka Chavda (Nottingham, N.H.) as All-Region performers in the 4x100 relay based on their time of 48.68 seconds at the Amherst Spring Fling, sixth-fastest mark in Bates history. Bila is a two-time All-Region performer this season thanks to her career-best time of 1:04.07 in the 400-meter hurdles, achieved at the NESCAC Championships for the sixth-fastest time in program history.
The Bobcats had a trio of athletes earn All-Region recognition in the triple jump, headlined by first-year
Alisandra Lindos (Westbrook, Maine),
who is competing Saturday at 3 p.m. eastern time in the NCAA Division III Championships, being held in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Lindos won the NESCAC title with her personal-record leap of 38-11.5 (11.87m), good for second on the Bates all-time performance list in the event.
Sophomore
Campbell Johnson (Naples, Maine) and junior
Alannah Ardrey (New York City) are also All-Region triple jumpers, with Johnson finishing runner-up to Lindos at NESCACs thanks to her personal-record leap of 38-7.75 (11.78m), which ranks third in Bates history. Ardrey checks in at fourth on the program's all-time performance list with her personal-record jump of 38-5.5 (11.72m) at the Tufts Spring Stampede.
Johnson was also turned in an All-Region showing in the high jump based on her personal-record leap of 5-3.75 (1.62m) at the NESCAC Championships, which was good for second place at the meet and third in Bates history in the event.
In the throws, the Bobcats have a pair of All-Region performers in the shot put and one in the hammer.
Sophomore
Marie-Ève Maillet (Saint-Antoine, New Brunswick) recorded a career-best outdoor shot put mark of 39-3 (11.96m) at the Pine Tree Classic and first-year
Temperance England (Havertown, Pa.) recorded a throw of 38-8.25 (11.79m) at the Tufts Spring Stampede, seventh on the Bates top 10 all-time performance list, one spot behind Maillet.
Senior captain
Carli Ciavarelli (Ridgefield, Conn.) earned All-NESCAC honors to go along with her All-Region recognition for her second-place finish at the NESCAC Championships in the hammer throw, where Ciavarelli notched a career-best toss of 169-4 (51.62m). Ciavarelli leaves Bates as the third-best hammer thrower in program history.
Fellow senior captain
Moriah Scharn (Dunstable, Mass.) graduates as the second-fastest 100-meter hurdler in program history, as she turned in a career-best and All-Region time of 14.44 seconds at the MIT Final Qualifier.
A pair of sophomores round out the All-Region list for Bates.
Mikayla Ferguson (Winchester, Mass.) and
Juno Rogers (Decatur, Ga.) turned in All-Region showings in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the heptathlon, respectively.
Ferguson's time of 11:21.33 at the NESCAC Championships is good for eighth on the Bates all-time performance list and Rogers' heptathlon-point total of 3,880 at the Tufts Spring Stampede is the sixth-most in program history.
