Keagan Ryan named third team All-Region by American Baseball Coaches Association

Junior captain broke Bates records for runs scored and stolen bases

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Bates junior captain center fielder Keagan Ryan is an ABCA NCAA Division III third team All-Region selection, as announced Tuesday by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Ryan (Salem, N.H.) ranks second in all of NCAA Division III in stolen bases per game and his 38 steals in 38 attempts are the most in the country by any player who hasn't gotten caught. He smashed the Bates record for stolen bases in one season and finished the year ranking second in the NESCAC in on-base percentage at .507.

His 1.207 OPS (On-Base + Slugging) tied for seventh in the conference and he was sixth in batting average at .381. Ryan's 47 runs scored is a new Bates record and is tied for second-most this season in the conference. He did all this while playing an outstanding center field for Bates, finishing with four assists while making just one error.

Some of Ryan's top performances this year included going 2-4 with six runs scored, two walks, and three stolen bases in a doubleheader split with Trinity, going 4-9 with five runs scored, an RBI, a double, two walks, and four stolen bases in a three-game sweep of Bowdoin, and going 4-8 with three runs scored, a double, two walks, and four stolen bases in a doubleheader at Colby.

Ryan was previously named first team All-NESCAC and he is the first Bobcat to earn ABCA All-Region honors since Henry Jamieson '23 in 2023.

Led by Ryan, the Bates baseball team finished the season with a record of 20-10, their best winning percentage since 2010.

The All-Region teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America Committee.

Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 40 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth and Travel.
