HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates softball junior captain catcher
Isabel Bettencourt is the NESCAC Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
Bettencourt (Peabody, Mass.) smashed four home runs and hit .438 at the plate while slugging a remarkable 1.188 over the past week. She had a monster doubleheader in a sweep of Wesleyan, going 3-5 with two home runs, four RBIs, and two runs scored. Bettencourt also went 2-3 with a home run, three RBIs, and two runs scored in a win over Hamilton. Her six long balls on the season are three shy of the Bates record.
This is the second NESCAC Player of the Week award of Bettencourt's career.Â
The Bobcats swept both Saint Joseph's and Wesleyan in doubleheaders last week, while also winning a game against Hamilton.Â
They are back in action on Wednesday, April 29 at 1 p.m. when Bates hosts Colby in a doubleheader at Lafayette Street Field.Â
