LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates women's outdoor track and field team won four events and took first place overall out of 10 schools at the Pine Tree Classic, hosted by the Bobcats Friday and Saturday at Russell Street Track & Field.
Bates tallied an impressive 214.5 points, more than 90 points ahead of runner-up Colby (123 points) as the Bobcats showed off their depth on their way to a second straight victory at the annual meet, which has been held at the same location as the men's state championship since 2023.
Meet Highlights
- Senior Kylie Musante (Brentwood, Tenn.) won the 1,500 meters in a personal-record time of 4:45.29.
- The Bobcats took the top three spots in the 5,000 meters, with first-year Annalise Wood (Hinesburg, Vt.) winning in 19:37.98, senior Kayla Burnham (Hartland, Vt.) taking second in 19:54.94, and sophomore Julia Young (Westborough, Mass.) placing third in a personal-record time of 20:22.46.
- First-year Alisandra Lindos (Westbrook, Maine) led a 1-2 Bates finish in the triple jump, taking home first place with a leap of 38-2 (11.63m). Sophomore Campbell Johnson (Naples, Maine) was second with a top leap of 36-11 (11.25m) and junior Alannah Ardrey (New York City) was fourth with a distance of 36-2.25 (11.03m).
- Senior captain Carli Ciavarelli (Ridgefield, Conn.) won the hammer throw with a top heave of 161-3 (49.16m).
- Johnson tied the Bates record in the outdoor long jump with her top effort of 18-0.5 (5.50m), good for second place at the meet. She was also second in the high jump with a top clearance of 5-0.25 (1.53m).
- Sophomore Graca Bila (Westbrook, Maine) placed second in the 200-meter dash with a personal-record time of 25.57 seconds, good for third on the Bates all-time performance list. Bila also impressed in the 100-meter dash, winning her section and taking fourth overall in 12.47 seconds, a time that is good for fifth on the Bates all-time performance list.
- Sophomore Darby Nicholson (Franklin, Mass.) set three personal records, highlighted by her second-place finish in the discus, as Nicholson moved into sixth on the Bates all-time performance list in the event with her toss of 122-3 (37.26m). She was fifth in the shot put at the meet with her PR of 35-5.25 (10.80m) and she also achieved a personal-best in the hammer at 82-11 (25.27m).
- Sophomore Marie-Ève Maillet (Saint-Antoine, New Brunswick) also had a big day in the throws, placing second in the shot put with an outdoor personal-best mark of 39-3 (11.96m), third in the javelin with a mark of 119-2 (36.32m), fifth in the discus with a personal-record heave of 108-4 (33.03m), and ninth in the hammer throw with a personal-record toss of 127-3 (38.80m).
- First-year Temperance England (Havertown, Pa.) was right there with Nicholson and Maillet, placing third in the shot put at 37-2.5 (11.34m) and fourth in the discus with a personal-record throw of 108-5 (33.05m).
- First-year Charlotte Everhart (Vienna, Va.) was fourth in the 200 meters in 26.03 seconds, good for 10th on the Bates all-time performance list.
- Junior Lia Traficonte (Cumberland, Maine) placed fourth in the 400 meters in a personal-record time of 59.61 seconds.
- Senior captain Lucy Paynter (Hillsborough, Calif.) took third in the 800 meters in 2:22.19.
- Senior captain Moriah Scharn (Dunstable, Mass.) finished second in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.09 seconds and sophomore Juno Rogers (Decatur, Ga.) was third in a personal-record time of 15.38 seconds, tying her for fifth on the Bates all-time performance list.
- First-year Elianna Umana Kimura (Westfield, Mass.) placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in a personal-record time of 1:08.89. She also scored points in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing eighth in a personal-record time of 16.31 seconds.
- Junior Jasmine Gray (Atlanta) achieved a personal-record in the pole vault with a top clearance of 9-10 (3.00m). The event was held indoors, so Gray's mark is good for ninth on the Bates indoor top 10 all-time performance list.
- Lindos achieved a mark of 17-0 (5.18m) in the long jump, good for a tie for 10th on the Bates all-time performance list.
The Bobcats are back in action next weekend at the NESCAC Championships, hosted this year by Williams College at the Weston Athletic Complex.
