LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates men's basketball team is headed to the NCAA Division III Championship tournament for the second time in program history, as announced Monday by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. 

Bates (18-8) travels to Montclair State University's Panzer Athletic Center for the first two rounds, starting Friday when the Bobcats take on Yeshiva at 1 p.m. If the Bobcats prevail, they'll play the winner of host Montclair State and University of Maine at Farmington at a to-be-determined time on Saturday.

The Bobcats are in the NCAA Division III Championship tournament for the first time since the 2014-15 season, when Bates advanced to the "Sweet 16." The Bobcats also made the NCAA tournament in the pre-Division III era, having competed in the 1961 NCAA College Division Regional Finals.
