LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates men's basketball junior forward
Babacar Pouye is a third team All-Region 1 selection, as announced Monday by D3hoops.com.
Pouye (Carpinteria, Calif.) is the first Bates men's basketball player to earn All-Region honors since
Marcus Delpeche '17 in 2017.
The latest honor for Pouye comes on the heels of him being named first team All-NESCAC and first team All-State.
He averaged a team-high 14.2 points and 8 rebounds per game while shooting .535 from the field. Pouye has improved his scoring, rebounding, and shooting percentage every season since first stepping on campus in the fall of 2023. The Bobcats have improved as a team alongside him, making the NESCAC semifinals for the first time since 2012 and getting selected for their first NCAA Division III tournament appearance since the 2014-15 season.
The Bobcats finished their 2025-26 campaign with an 18-9 record, the fourth-most wins in one season in program history.
Players chosen to the D3hoops.com All-Region team are eligible for All-America selection. This is the 25th year D3hoops.com has named an All-Region team and this year's All-America team will be the 29th annual All-America selections. The D3hoops.com All-American teams, along with those of the respective coaches' associations, are the only ones recognized in the NCAA record book.
