Babacar Pouye is an NABC second team All-District selection, as announced Tuesday by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division III.Â
Pouye (Carpinteria, Calif.) led the Bobcats to an 18-9 overall record, the program's first appearance in the NESCAC semifinals since 2012, and Bates men's basketball's second bid to the NCAA Division III Championship tournament. He is the first Bobcat to earn NABC All-District honors sinceÂ
Graham Safford '15 in 2015. Safford was a first team All-District selection after leading Bates to a program-record 21 wins during the 2014-15 season and their first appearance in the NCAA Division III tournamentÂ
This latest award comes on the heels of Pouye earning third All-Region honors from D3hoops.com, first team All-NESCAC from the New England Small College Athletic Conference, and first team All-State from the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association.Â
Pouye averaged a team-high 14.2 points and 8 rebounds per game while shooting .535 from the field. Some of his top performances included a career-high 28 points on 10-18 shooting in an 88-76 win over Bowdoin, 26 points and 14 rebounds on 9-13 shooting in an 88-82 win over UMass-Dartmouth, 25 points and 16 rebounds on 9-14 shooting in a 95-85 win over Plymouth State, 25 points on 10-18 shooting and 11 rebounds in a 90-72 win over Colby, and 23 points on 9-13 shooting in an 82-79 win over a nationally ranked Maryville team. Pouye recorded six double-doubles on the year. He also blocked a team-high 29 shots.
