LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates senior outfielder
Gibby Sullivan is the MCBSA Baseball Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the Maine College Baseball & Softball Association.
The first MCBSA weekly honors of 2026 recognize performances dating back to the beginning of the season in February.
Sullivan (Yarmouth, Maine) has been one of the most productive hitters in Division III to open the season, batting .500 (11-22) with nine runs scored, 16 RBIs, two doubles, two triples, one home run, and a 1.509 OPS through Bates' first seven games. His RBI total already surpasses his tally from all of last season, when he drove in 13 runs over 32 games. Sullivan is currently on the National Small College Player of the Year Watchlist, has earned NESCAC Player of the Week honors, and has twice landed on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week.
He has helped power the Bobcats to a 6-1 start, their best since 1974. Bates is back in action Wednesday at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational when they take on SUNY Fredonia at 1 p.m.
