LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates women's indoor track and field senior captain
Moriah Scharn earned the George Towle Women's Track MVP award as the Bobcats took second place out of eight teams Saturday at the Maine State Meet, held at Merrill Gymnasium.
The Bobcats scored 186.83 points, finishing behind only Bowdoin, as the Polar Bears captured the state title with 220 points.
Meet Highlights
- Scharn (Dunstable, Mass.) won the 60-meter hurdles in a personal-record time of 8.91 seconds and took fourth in the 200 meters in a personal-record time of 26.67 seconds.
- First-year Hannah Pawlowski (Bow, N.H.) led a 1-2 Bates finish in the 600 meters, breaking both the State Meet and school records with her time of 1:34.95. Senior Kylie Musante (Brentwood, Tenn.) was the runner-up in 1:39.91, good for 10th all-time at Bates.
- First-year Charlotte Everhart (Vienna, Va.) won the 400 meters in a personal-record time of 59.59 seconds.
- Sophomore Mikayla Ferguson (Winchester, Mass.) won the 5,000 meters in 18:46.41.
- The Bates 4x400 relay team of sophomore Alexia Zamora (North Salem, N.Y.), sophomore Graca Bila (Westbrook, Maine), senior Emma Yen (Albertson, N.Y.), and Everhart prevailed in 4:07.67.
- First-year Alisandra Lindos (Westbrook, Maine) won the triple jump with a leap of 36-5 (11.10m), good for sixth on the Bates top 10 all-time performance list.
- First-year Temperance England (Havertown, Pa.) placed third in the shot put with a toss of 40-0.5 (12.20m), good for fifth all-time at Bates.
Bates women's track and field returns to action next weekend when they compete in a trio of meets at Bowdoin, Boston University, and Tufts.
