LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College men's squash wrapped up the home portion of its 2025-26 schedule Friday night as the No. 24 Bobcats took on No. 20 Bowdoin in a 7-2 win for the Polar Bears.
Prior to competition, the Bobcats celebrated the collegiate contribution of their lone senior, captain
Ashton Monteiro.
Bates' triumphs came courtesy of fellow captain
Dennis Welte (So.) and first-year
Tanish Tangri at No. 1 and No. 6, respectively.
Welte pocketed a 3-0 shutout (11-9, 11-8, 12-10) of Bowdoin's Fotis Zafiriou at the top spot of the lineup while Tangri needed four games (11-7, 11-8, 3-11, 11-6) to push past Sachith Vissapragada.
The Bobcats fall to 4-8 with the setback while the Polar Bears climb to 6-8 after the road win.
Bates gets right back at it Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. visit to No. 16 Colby on the slate.
