LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates men's basketball senior captain Babacar Pouye has been named a D3hoops.com preseason fifth team All-American, as announced Wednesday by the venerable website.

Pouye (Carpinteria, Calif.) is coming off a junior campaign where he helped lead Bates to the NCAA Division III Championship tournament for the second time in program history.

A first team All-NESCAC, first team All-State, second team All-District, and D3hoops.com third team All-Region selection a year ago, Pouye averaged a team-high 14.2 points and 8 rebounds per game while shooting .535 from the field. He recorded six double-doubles on the year and blocked a team-high 29 shots.

Pouye had a number of standout games last season, highlighted by a career-high 28 points on 10-18 shooting, seven rebounds, and an appearance on ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays of the Night in an 88-76 win over Bowdoin.

Pouye and the Bobcats open their 2026-27 season at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14 at Western Connecticut State. Their home opener is set for Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. against Husson in Underhill Arena.
