HANOVER, N.H. -- Sophomores
Oliver Wilson and
Elsa Sanborn led the Bates Nordic skiing team in the 7.5K classical technique races, held Friday at Oak Hill to open the Dartmouth Carnival.
Wilson (Dublin, N.H.) paced the men's team, placing 36th out of 88 competitors with his time of 22:41.3, good for 14 carnival points. First-years
Taylor Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) and
Forrest Slingerland (Glens Falls, N.Y.) joined Wilson in the scoring column, with Carlson taking 43rd in 22:53.0 and Slingerland crossing the finish line in 23:28.1, good for 10 and seven carnival points respectively.
On the women's side, Sanborn (Burlington, Vt.) placed 48th out of 98 competitors with her time of 26:45.2, good for 14 carnival points. First-year
Zoe Sumner (Minneapolis, Minn.) and sophomore
Margaret Voisin (Montpelier, Vt.) also scored points for the Bobcats. Sumner took 52nd in 26:59.0, good for 11 carnival points, and Voisin crossed the finish line in 27:41.3, good for 70th place and five carnival points.
Combined, the Nordic and alpine skiing teams scored 110 points on Friday, good for 12th place out of 14 EISA schools with one day remaining at the Dartmouth Carnival. The Nordic skiing team is back in action Saturday at 10 a.m. when they compete in the 10K freestyle.
