WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Bates Nordic skiing team wrapped up the Colby Carnival on Saturday, competing in the 7.5 classical technique race as the Bobcats combined with the alpine skiing team to take ninth place out of 14 EISA schools overall.

Sophomore Hannah Grohman (Biddeford, Maine) had the best finish of the day for the Bobcats, taking 53rd place out of 95 skiers in the women's race with a time of 26:31.9, good for 13 carnival points. Classmate Elsa Sanborn (Burlington, Vt.) was not far behind her in 56th place, crossing the finish line in 26:40.0 and earning 12 carnival points. A third sophomore, Margaret Voisin (Montpelier, Vt.), rounded out the scoring for the women's team in 69th place with her time of 27:33.1, good for six carnival points.

On the men's side, sophomore Oliver Wilson (Dublin, N.H.) led the way, taking 58th place out of 88 skiers with his time of 22:43.6, good for nine carnival points. First-year Forrest Slingerland (Glens Falls, N.Y.) wasn't far behind, placing 59th in 22:44.7 and earning eight carnival points. First-year Taylor Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) rounded out the scoring for the men's team in 65th place with a time of 22:58.1, good for six carnival points.

Bates Nordic and alpine skiing combined for 314 carnival points. 

The Bobcats head to Oak Hill for the Dartmouth Carnival next Friday and Saturday.
