Taylor Carlson and sophomore
Hannah Grohman paced the men's and women's Nordic skiing teams respectively in the 20K freestyle Friday at the Colby Carnival, held at Quarry Road Trails.
Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) raced to the finish in 59:38.1, good for 32nd place out of 92 competitors and 15 carnival points for the Bobcats. Sophomore
Oliver Wilson (Dublin, N.H.) picked up 11 carnival points with a 44th place showing, crossing the line in 1:00:40.7 and sophomore
Duncan Whitbeck (Salt Lake City, Utah) rounded out the scoring for the men's team in 53rd place with a time of 1:01:24.1, earning nine carnival points.
On the women's side, Grohman (Biddeford, Maine) turned in a time of 1:10:32.4, taking 41st out of 97 competitors and earning 18 carnival points. Sophomore
Elsa Sanborn (Burlington, Vt.) finished 62nd in 1:13:28.3 and sophomore
Margaret Voisin (Montpelier, Vt.) came in 66th in 1:14:13.8, earning nine and six carnival points, respectively.
Combined, the Bates Nordic and alpine skiing teams sit in ninth place at the Colby Carnival with 260 carnival points, one point ahead of Harvard with one event remaining, the 7.5K classic Saturday at 11 a.m.
